Juneau

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

I’ve listened to Funeral For A Friend’s Juneau quite a few times, but I never really paid attention to the lyrics before. It was only today that I looked the words up and found that the song is actually very beautifully written. It’s so poetic! (Insert dreamy gaze here.) Silly me for not noticing it sooner. First three lines are my favorites.

Tied to the testing of wills, where my heart breaks and spills
Left to the sight of the sky, in your arms I’m defined
Thrown to the wolves in the minds of your enemies,
in the minds of your enemies
And I’m stone in the eyes of your foolishness

If this is what I’m meant for, no longer interesting
Fall forward to even the score
Just a thought to you

Tied to the testing of wills, where my heart breaks and spills
Left to the sight of the sky, in your arms I’m defined
Thrown to the wolves in the minds of your enemies,
in the minds of your enemies
And I’m stone in the eyes of your foolishness

And I’m nothing more than a line in your book
Yet I’m nothing more than a line in your book
Yet I’m nothing more than a line in your book
Yet I’m nothing more than a line in your book
In your book, in your book

If this is what I’m meant for, no longer interesting
Fall forward to even the score
Just a thought to you

(Just a thought to you)
(Just a thought to you)

Yet I’m nothing more
Yet I’m nothing more than a line in your book
Yet I’m nothing more than a line in your book

I Smell Like the Sun

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

No, I haven’t been tanning. I prefer being fair-skinned, thankyouverymuch.

On our way home from the doctor’s this afternoon we had to make a pit stop when the car was suddenly making funny sounds. We also noticed that one side seemed to be abnormally lower than the other. When we pulled over to check we saw that the front left tire had become a pathetic-looking piece of wounded rubber that had gone askew on the rim. See for yourself:

Fortunately home was already nearby and my cousin’s store was just on the next street, so he had a couple of workers sent over to help replace the shredded tire. We spent a good while standing in the sun, and that is why I smell like it.

What exactly happened to the tire? We don’t know, either.

No Care Bears Here

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t care about certain things anymore. Which is bad, because these things should be important to me. Well, they still are, I guess, but it’s just easier not to care sometimes. But I don’t think I’ll stay this way forever. At least, I hope not.

Shorties

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

It seems, that a lot of my tops are getting shorter.  I’ve come up with three possible reasons for this:

  1. My tops have shrunk.
  2. I’ve grown taller.
  3. My pants have gotten lower.

I’d like to believe that it’s #2,  but who am I kidding?

Lens, Baby

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

The Lensbaby 3G that I ordered last December finally arrived last week, and I went to the ancient, crumbling post office to pick up my parcel. Geez, they really put the snail in snail mail. Anyway, my new lens is a beaut. My fingers found it awkward to handle at first, what with its unconventional form, but I’m getting the hang of it. I’d post some sample pictures, but they’re all still in my camera.

Oh, any fellow L. J. Smith fans out there? She’s now back as Ljane Smith, and she’s got a brand spankin’ new website up. I’m so pleased! She’s working on Strange Fate and Vampire Diaries V: Damon. Yay!

It’s 2008!

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I’m starting off the new year with a runny nose and sore throat. Oh joy. I have also cleaned out my closet a bit and threw out a lot of old, useless, mostly teen-y magazines. Well not really threw them out, I put them in our “to recycle” box. Happy new year everyone!
